The large gym area with its varied equipment allows for treatment and rehabilitation of a multitude of injuries.

Concussions - A concussion is a traumatic brain injury that is caused by biomechanical forces applied to the body. The result of these forces is a change in brain function which can cause headaches, dizziness, sensitivity to light and sound, balance disruption, memory and concentration problems.

Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) - Intramuscular stimulation or IMS is a treatment for chronic myofascial pain of neuropathic origin; typically this is as a result of a disturbance in the peripheral nervous system which results in ‘supersensitivity’ causing muscle shortening (tight bands), localized painful areas (trigger points), loss of range of motion and autonomic changes (temperature changes, swelling, abnormal sweating). Treatment using IMS first involves a comprehensive examination to establish the presence of neuropathy. Sterilized acupuncture needles are inserted in shortened muscles in order to release tight bands and stimulate new healing. IMS can be used to treat various conditions like chronic tendinitis (Achilles, ‘tennis elbow), chronic neck and back pain.

Dry Needling / Acupuncture - Dry needling can be effective in the treatment of musculoskeletal injury (ie muscle strain), back pain with or without referred symptoms (ie sciatica), and chronic pain.

Dry needling involves the insertion of sterile filiform (acupuncture) needles into a taut band of a hypersensitive muscle, otherwise known as a trigger point. This will result in a stretch-reflex reaction allowing the muscle to relax, as well as help clear underlying biochemical markers associated with pain.Dry needling is done in conjunction with other physiotherapy treatment as part of a global approach to the individual's concerns.

Custom Footmaxx Orthotics - There is a secret to making orthotics that give you exactly the right correction: accurate measurements of the way you walk. Footmaxx orthotics are made from measurements that are taken by a computer while your feet are in motion and bearing weight. You walk across a mat that is connected to a computer. As you walk the mat scans your feet in motion 30 times per second, taking incredibly precise measurements of the way your feet touch the ground and how you distribute your body weight throughout your footsteps. The information is analyzed by the computer to produce 2D and 3D graphic images of your feet that you can see displayed on the screen. Diagnostic software specifies the orthotics and in less than 1 week, your orthotics are on their way to our clinic.

Vestibular Rehabilitation - Is the assessment and treatment of clients with dizziness and balance disorders. The vestibular organs of the inner ear provide the brain with information about changes in head movement. Disruption to the vestibular system may result in symptoms including dizziness, unsteadiness, vertigo, and balance problems.
